Cozy Games Are the Perfect Palate Cleanser
I didn't expect a farming sim to end up in my regular rotation, but here we are. After a brutal session of losing the same strategy map five times, Greenhollow Farm Days is where I go to calm down.
There's something to the contrast. High-pressure games sharpen you but they also drain you. A cozy sim with no timers and no failure state lets your brain reset. I've solved more than one strategy puzzle by stepping away to plant tomatoes and letting it sit.
What's funny is that the good cozy games aren't actually brainless. Laying out an efficient farm is an optimization puzzle, just a relaxed one. The difference is the stakes — mess up and nothing punishes you, you just tidy it tomorrow.
If you only play competitive or high-tension games, I genuinely recommend keeping one cozy title on your phone. It makes the intense ones more enjoyable because you're not permanently keyed up.
Balance in a game library is a real thing. Mine is better for the tomatoes.
