Emberwild Chronicle

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Emberwild Chronicle is a proper old-school RPG shrunk down for a phone without losing its soul. You build a party of four, each with a skill tree that actually matters, and the turn-based fights reward reading enemy patterns over mashing attack. I spent an embarrassing amount of time re-speccing my cleric.

The writing carries it. Choices in dialogue ripple forward — a village I ignored early came back to bite me ten hours later. That kind of consequence is rare in mobile RPGs. Save points are frequent, which suits phone play, and you can pause any fight.

It's a chunky download and the battery takes a hit in big fights, but the story is worth it. If you miss sitting with a real campaign, this scratches that itch on the train.
